Salma Hayek

Salma Hayek is a Mexican-American actress born to Syrian-Lebanese parents. Her family was an affluent Roman Catholic family from Mexico. When she was a kid she felt compelled to be an actress watching the movie 'Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.' After attending Mexico City's "Universidad Latinamericana," she felt prepared to enter the field of film. It was her first role in the Mexican TV show "Teresa." When she moved to Hollywood, she was cast as the role of Antonio Banderas in the movie "Desperado.' After that, came roles in "Fools Rush in" as well as "Wild Wild West", amongst others. Her character as 'Desperado' as seen in Once Upon a Time in Mexico was repeated. Her next step was to establish her own production company called "Ventanarosa'. She directed the Mexican film , 'El Coronel Teiene Queen Escriba". It was the entry of Mexico for the Oscars in the category 'Best Foreign Film.' Also, she was the director of the 'Ugly Betty.' The role she played as Sofia Reyes in 'Ugly Betty' won her a nomination for 'Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series' at the 60th 'Primetime Emmy Awards.' She has also endorsed products such as Revlon and Avon and launched her own brand of cosmetics, skincare and hair products called 'Nuance.'
