Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She is the author of fifteen books, and she is co-founder the magazine The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington is a journalist TV personality, philanthropist, and TV host and also the proprietor and publisher of The Huffington Post. Originally from Greece she relocated to England at the age of 16 and graduated from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. The first graduate non-UK to be elected president of The Cambridge Union at the age 21. After her graduation, she became an influential right-wing syndicated reporter. After a few years later, she founded The Huffington Post which featured critical commentary on the current political landscape. Her fame has led to the attraction of many well-known contributors for posting their opinions on the news, politics and culture. Arianna became famous when she ran in the California recall election in the place of Governor Davis. She also headed an Detroit energy-efficient vehicle project. Forbes listed her as one of as one of the "most important female" in media, placing her at 12th. Guardian placed her on their list of the 100 most important media figures in 2009. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post, and she became president of this media group. This included many AOL properties of that time, including Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Elli was born to Konstantinos Stasinopoulos and Elli the other, both of whom are journalists and consultants in management. Although she was a close friend to her father it was her bond with her mother that formed her character. She showed leadership traits even in her early years. When she moved to England, she was sixteen to further her studies and was accepted into Girton College Cambridge. As a student and was in Cambridge Union, she joined the college debating societies where she eventually became its first female and foreign president. In 1972, she graduated with a Masters in Economics. Following her graduation, she was employed as a critic for a newspaper column and as a host on television. In addition, she appeared together with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started making books with his editing assistance.
